OK, first things first, almost all of us today are running mad and curious about photography, more so in the capital. Being an ambitious photographer myself, I wanted to take my DSLR to a place which taught me how to get this baby kicking. So I went around photography schools and met some alumni, spoke to a few faculties and took some free tours around.
Here is what I found. Photography schools in Delhi are in abundance…Some are preposterous and some are worth the money, some have even bought internet rankings. The schools I have listed below are for your careful and convenient consideration so as whichever one you decide to pick is among-st the best in Delhi. Best of Luck.
1. New York Film Academy - Acting and Film School,
New York film Academy has a diverse course structure for Digital photography ranging from 1 year to 4 weeks in full time diploma. Along with a proper infrastructure it promises reasonable time to indulge in personal projects wherein you get to culture your creative germs. Its authority is justified by the quality of training they provide. It is one of the high ranking institutes in photography courses and charges as much. Although established in Delhi recently, it seems it has allot to offer. EXPENSIVE!
Daddy can pay, you can go.
2. Massco Media
With an inclination towards creative and quality educational structure, Massco media focuses on innovation in photography and provides a good environment for learning. Pretty awesome topography, and the alumni has nothing but strings of praises attached with their experience from this praise. It is an autonomous program but only provides part time certificate courses. I won't say it burns a hole in your pocket but it does make it lighter.
3. Big Klick
Creative and expert techniques wrapped in young blood and enthusiasm, Big Klick brings to the game a freshness seldom seen in media schools, offering three different levels of diploma ranging from 1 year to 2 months according to the students convenience. Small studio set up by few young but experienced professionals, they knew my blood for photography (rare in such schools). I recommend this for those who can’t pay much and YET get learn more.
4. Delhi School of Photography
So you have got this DSLR, and don't want to be called a pseudo who babbles around with it slinging by your side, well Delhi school of photography might save you that tag at a reasonable expense. It boasts of a good campus and unconventional teaching techniques and if u are willing to compromise on the hardware, you as-well might like it.The only thing is that it only has certificate and part time courses, so they may give you a good start, but they wont make you a pro. Pretty sure its in your budget.
5. International Media Institute (IMI)
The thing I like about IMI is that it doesn't limit itself by teaching only professional photography but also expands and gives the option of learning photo journalism as a separate course. The review I got from its alumni is not that bad and can be charted under reasonably good, but you can do better if you have the cash to enroll here. The courses are of 3 month full time.
6. Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication
SACAC has a good campus and is reasonably well equipped. The faculty people seemed pleasant and the students weren't hostile(not to me anyway). They provide students with enough space to explore their intuitions and flow their heart. But the only thing, that it provides only a 1 year post graduate diploma. And if you are a budget person... you won't be disappointed.
7. College of Media & Communication
COMC does have a very stringent thing for rules and I get the feel of discipline in it. But that does not mean that they don't make the learning experience fun. The equipment is mediocre but it does a great job of polishing its students, so says the alumni. The faculty is pleasant and very diligent and abide by the rules, but the students don't mind the strictness at all. Its a fun place with a fee that can be termed worth the knowledge. But again they only provide post graduation.
8. Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT)
AAFT is quite popular as a media school but its mark is more prominent because of the film training, rather than their courses of photography. Great infrastructure, well equipped and a descent faculty. Its courses though are only for 3 month full time and it definitely burns a hole in your pocket.
